Mutual Contacts in Me: The Easy Way to Understand Who’s Calling You

Got a call from an unknown number? Before you answer, the same question always comes up: who is it, and should you pick up?
That’s exactly why the Mutual Contacts feature exists in the Me app. It helps you better understand who’s on the other end of the line, whether you share connections with them, and how they may be linked to your social or professional circle.
Instead of relying only on a phone number or caller name, Me gives you another layer of context: which of your contacts may know the person calling you.

What Are Mutual Contacts?

Mutual Contacts is a feature that shows how many shared contacts you have with the caller, and in some cases, who they are.
It could be a mutual friend, a colleague, someone from your past, or a contact saved on your phone who is also connected to the caller.
So even if the number isn’t saved on your device, you can still get a useful clue about who’s calling and understand whether they may be part of your social or professional circle.

How Does It Help During a Call?

Mutual Contacts can completely change the way you look at an incoming call.
If an unknown number calls you and you see that you have several mutual contacts, you’ll likely feel more comfortable answering. It gives you added confidence, helps you understand how the person may know you, and can even make the conversation easier to start.
Instead of opening with “Who is this?” or trying to guess, you enter the call with a little more context.

An Extra Layer of Confidence for Unknown Calls

In a world where we all receive more spam calls, marketing calls, and suspicious calls, every piece of information can help.
When you see that you have no mutual contacts with an unknown caller, it doesn’t necessarily mean you shouldn’t answer, but it is a helpful reminder to be a little more cautious.
On the other hand, if you do have mutual contacts, it can help you feel that the call is coming from someone more familiar, or at least someone connected to your circle.

Not Just Safety - New Connections Too

Sometimes, Mutual Contacts does more than help identify a caller. It can also reveal interesting connections you didn’t know about.
You may discover that someone reaching out to you is connected to a colleague, a friend from school, or someone from your social circle. That small piece of information can turn an ordinary call into an opportunity for a new connection, a smoother conversation, or even an interesting professional relationship.
That’s what makes this feature so useful: it doesn’t just help you stay cautious, it also helps you better understand the network around you.

Where Can You See Mutual Contacts?

You can view Mutual Contacts through the user profile in the Me app.
Simply open the caller’s profile during the call, or search for their number in the app. In the profile, you’ll find relevant information about your connection, including mutual contacts when available.
The information is displayed in a simple, clear way, so you can quickly understand who’s calling and how they may be connected to you.

Your Privacy Matters

At Me, we believe in keeping the right balance between useful information and user privacy.
Mutual contacts are displayed according to the names saved in your phone. In other words, you see the information in a way that is familiar to you from your own contact list.
You can also control this feature through the app’s privacy settings.
To turn it on or off, go to:
Me > Settings > Privacy
There, you can choose whether or not to use the feature.

A Few Things to Know

To display Mutual Contacts, both sides need to use the Me app.
If one of the sides does not use the app, mutual contacts may not be shown.
Also, contact names appear exactly as they are saved on your phone, so the information feels clear and familiar to you.

In Summary

The Mutual Contacts feature in Me gives you more context for every call.
It helps you understand who’s calling, whether you share contacts, whether you should be a little more cautious, and how the caller may be connected to you.
Whether it’s an unknown number, a friend of a friend, a colleague, or someone contacting you for the first time, Mutual Contacts can help you feel more confident, save time, and start conversations more naturally.
With Me, every call comes with more context and more confidence.
