How do I block calls from an entire country?
Settings > Blocking Settings > "Blocked Countries".
It blocks all calls from the countries you pick, except saved contacts.
How do I know which of my contacts use Me?
On the "Contact List" tab, tap the filter icon and choose "Me Users". The list then shows only the contacts who already use the app.
The same screen has "Users to Invite", which shows the opposite: the contacts who are not on Me yet.
How do I delete a contact quickly?
Swiping a contact row reveals "Delete contact", next to "Change contact's name".
A confirmation appears first, because the contact is removed both from the list in the app and from your device's contacts: "The contact will be removed from your list and from your device contacts, are you sure you want to continue?"
How do I clear my recent searches?
"Recent searches" sits under the search field with what you looked for lately.
- To remove one, swipe it
- To clear them all, tap "Clear all" next to the heading
That list lives on your device and is only there to save you typing the same thing twice.
How do I delete my profile, and what happens after?
You delete the profile from inside the app:
Settings > Profile > "Delete Profile"
The delete screen says it in its own words, and it is worth reading first:
- "Your account will be removed", deleting your profile permanently removes the account and all related data, and the action cannot be undone
- "You'll lose access to your data forever", your profile, call history, identified calls, notes and every saved detail
- and under "Please note": "After deletion, you may not be able to sign up again with the same number"
That last line is not legal boilerplate. There is a ceiling on deletions, and passing it blocks you from registering again.
If you only want a break, there is a reversible option:
Settings > Profile > "Suspend Profile"
And if you simply do not want your number to appear on Me, with no connection to the app, the removal form is here: Opt out
How do I identify a number with the camera?
The search screen has "Camera Search":
- Tap the camera icon
- Point the phone at the number, the camera scans the text
- With one number in the frame the identification opens by itself, with several you pick which one to open
The first time, the app asks for camera permission, which is used only for this search.
How do I return a call from the call log?
Swipe the row in the call log and a call button appears that rings back in one tap.
How do I make a quick call?
Swiping a contact row to one side reveals a "Call" button, and tapping it starts the call without opening the contact.
Swiping to the other side reveals "Change contact's name" and "Delete contact".
How do I search for a contact from the dialer?
The dialer searches three ways at once:
- As you type digits it looks through your contacts for numbers that contain them
- With no match it goes to the Me database and shows the name behind the number
- To search by name there is T9, meaning you tap the digits that carry the letters of the name
For the full list, tap "See all matches".
How do I search for a business in the app?
On the search screen, pick the "Business" mode and type a business name, a kind of service, or a keyword.
Each result shows:
- The business name and its logo
- A verified badge, if the business verified itself
- A rating
- How far it is from you
- Whether it is open right now
There is also "Businesses nearby" and "Businesses connected to you", meaning businesses you have already been in touch with.
How do I search for a number or a name in the app?
Tap the search icon at the top of the screen and "General Search" opens. A picker at the top has three modes, each searching a different place:
- "Number", to identify a phone number you have not saved
- "Name", to look someone up by name
- "Business", to find businesses
Pick a mode, start typing, and results appear as you type. In "Number" mode you can also tap the camera icon and read a number off a photo or a sign.
Your recent searches are kept under the search field, and you can clear them.
How do I turn notifications off or on?
Settings > Notifications
Every type is its own switch, so you can turn off only what bothers you:
- Names, when someone saves or edits your name on their phone
- Who watched my profile, a weekly notification
- Who deleted me
- Birthdays
- Comments Notifications
- Missing call notification
- Distance, when someone asks to share distance with you
- System, critical updates from Me
How do I turn off the ads?
We completely understand that ads can get in the way. We work hard to keep the amount and the frequency as moderate as we can.
If you've run into an ad that bothered you, we'd be glad to get a screenshot or a video, so we can improve the ads in the very next version.
We'd love to offer the whole service with no ads at all, but behind the app there are real costs, development, maintenance and continuous improvement. The ads are what let us keep the core services free for everyone while we keep building.
There is no switch in the app that turns ads off. The only ad-free experience is a Me Pro subscription, which removes every ad from the app: https://dp.me.app/get-pro

How do I organize my favorites?
On the phone tab, tap "Favorites", then the three-dot menu. It holds three actions:
- "Add Favorite", pick from your contact list
- "Remove Favorite", choose who to take off
- "Reorder List", drag the rows into the order you want
How do I turn dark mode on or off?
Settings > Dark Mode
- "Automatic dark mode" switches between light and dark with your phone's own setting
- "Manual dark mode", and then under "Choose the mode" pick "Dark Mode" or "Light Mode"
How do I change the app language?
Settings > Language & Voice > "Default Language" > pick your language from the list
The same screen also decides which voice Me uses when it announces a caller:
- Use app language voice
- Use phone language voice
How do I open the Me dialer?
The "Names" tab and the phone tab both have a floating button with dots, and that is the quick way into the dialer.
There is also a home-screen shortcut: a long press on the Me icon opens shortcuts, and the dialer is one of them. For a permanent one,
Settings > Dialer Settings > "Create Dialer Shortcut".
How do I see who saved my number when they are not in my contacts?
On the "Names" tab in the bottom bar, tap the filter icon and choose "Not in my Contact List". The list refreshes and shows only the names that came from people who are not saved on your phone.
The same filter screen has more options:
- "From my Contact List", only people already saved
- "New Names" first
- Sort A-Z or sort by date
Where are all the numbers I searched for kept?
The "Identify Calls" tab keeps every number Me identified for you, including the numbers you searched for yourself.
Each row carries a tag saying where the identification came from, the dialer, an incoming call or a search.
If the screen is empty, nothing has been identified for you yet, which is what it says there: "There are no identify Calls yet".
Where do I see all my notifications?
The bottom bar of the app has a "Notifications" tab, and every notification you received is kept there. Tags at the top of the screen filter the list down to one type.
To turn notification types on or off:
Settings > Notifications
How do I turn off birthday notifications?
Settings > Notifications > turn off "Birthdays".
That silences only the birthday reminders. The other switches on the same screen, Names, Who watched my profile, Who deleted me, Distance, System and Email Updates, are unaffected; each one is separate.
I want to stop appearing on Me without deleting everything
Settings > Profile > "Suspend Profile" (temporary, reversible) or "Delete Profile"
(permanent, cannot be undone). Anyone who simply doesn't want their number on Me can use the opt-out form.
I want Me to message through Telegram, not WhatsApp
Settings > "Default Messaging Apps", WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Viber or SMS. If you
have both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business, the same screen lets you pick which one, or Ask Every Time.
Can I add or edit a contact from the dialer?
Yes. After you type a number, a plus or an edit button appears in the bottom corner, depending on whether the number is already saved. Tapping it opens your operating system's contact card to add or edit.
Can I add a note to a number?
Yes. You can attach a private note to any number, and it shows up on the caller ID the next time that number calls.
Open the number's profile, choose "Add / Edit Note", write it and save. "Clear Note" removes it.
The note is yours alone. It is not shown to the owner of the number and not to other users.
Can I search for a number I copied?
Yes. Copy a number anywhere on your phone and open Me, and the app offers to search for it.
The feature is called "Search via Copy Number", and it needs permission to watch the clipboard. If it does not appear, turn on "Enable clipboard listening" in the settings.
Can I see which contacts I added recently?
Yes. On the "Contact List" tab, tap the filter icon and choose "Newest to Oldest". The list refreshes with the most recently added contacts first.
Can I see more about a number before calling?
Yes. Once you type a number and a result appears, tap the profile picture and the full profile opens: how other people saved that number, mutual contacts, social networks the user connected and more.
Can I see only incoming calls in the call log?
Yes. On the phone tab, in the recent calls list, tap the filter icon and pick "Incoming calls". The same screen also filters by:
- Outgoing calls
- Missed calls
- Calls from my contacts
- Identified by Me, meaning calls from numbers you have not saved
- Filter by Spam
- Sort By Date
Can I put shortcuts to the dialer and contacts on my home screen?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > "Create Quick Access to Home Screen", Dialer, Favorites, Call History, Contact List, or "Add all shortcuts". There is also a standalone one under Settings > Dialer Settings > "Create Dialer Shortcut".
Can the dialer open on Favorites instead of Recents?
Settings > Dialer Settings > "Customize Dialer", choose what you see first when the
Me dialer opens.
Are Me favorites synced with my phone favorites?
It depends on the operating system:
- Android: Me favorites are synced with your device contacts' favorites. A favorite you add here shows up there, and the other way round
- iPhone: Me favorites are a separate list and are not synced with the phone's favorites, because of an iOS limit
I searched a number and got no name, why?
It means that number does not have a name on Me yet. That happens with a new number, with a number that has not been identified yet, or with one that was removed from identification.
Worth trying:
- Check you typed the whole number, including the country code
- See whether it is reported as spam, because a report shows even when there is no name
If the number still returns no name, nothing is wrong with your phone and there is nothing to fix in the settings.
My call log is empty, what should I do?
On Android this is almost always a permission: Me needs read and write access to the call log in order to show it.
Settings > Caller ID Troubleshooting > turn on "Read/write call log permission"
On iPhone it is a system limit. iOS does not let an app read the phone's call log, so the Me log shows only calls made from inside the app or from its dialer.
Is there a Me widget for the home screen?
Yes, and it looks different on each system:
- Android has one home-screen widget, with search, camera lookup, favorites and recent calls. Add it like any widget: long press the home screen, pick widgets and look for Me
- iPhone has several separate widgets, and a lock screen one too: favorites, recent calls, identified numbers, new names, who viewed your profile, birthdays, friends' distance, and number search
A widget that shows something private, like who viewed your profile or a friend's distance, stays empty if you turned that feature off in the privacy settings.
I have two SIMs, how do I choose which one calls?
Settings > Dialer Settings > "Dual Sim", SIM 1, SIM 2, or "Ask Every Time".
Why don't I see businesses near me?
Business search shows distance and what is around you, and for that it needs your location. With location services off, the screen says "Turn ON Location Service, in order to see business around you".
Tap the message, grant the permission, and go back to the search. Search still works without location, but with no distance and no list of what is near you.
Why don't I see who viewed my profile?
Two reasons: the switch is off (Settings > Privacy Settings > "Who watches my profile", it is off by default), and the screen is mutual in both directions. Who deleted me and Mutual Contacts work the same way.
What can I do with the call log tags?
The top of the call log carries time tags: "Today", "Yesterday", "Last week" and "Older". Tapping one jumps straight to that part of the log.
To filter by call type, tap the filter icon and choose incoming, outgoing, missed, from contacts, identified by Me or spam.
What is the difference between the retro and the classic dialer?
Two looks for the same dialer. Classic is the regular one, retro imitates the dialer of old phones.
Switch with the button under the phone icon: "Change to retro dialer" or "Change to classic dialer".
What is the star icon next to the number in the dialer?
The star marks favorites. Filled means the number is in your favorites, empty means it is not.
Tapping the star adds or removes the number, without leaving the dialer.
What do the colours in the call log mean?
The colour in the call log tells you the type of call:
- Green, an outgoing call
- Blue, an incoming call
- Red, a missed call
What is Me?
Me is a caller ID app that has been identifying calls since 2014. It shows a name and photo for every incoming call, blocks spam, and adds features like Who Saved Me, a smart dialer and number search. Me is built by NFO and is available for iPhone, for Android and in the browser with Me Web.
What is the i icon, and what does the number in brackets mean?
The call log groups consecutive calls with the same number, and the number in brackets, (3) for example, is how many calls are in the group.
Tapping the i icon opens the detail: the exact date and time of every call in that group.
What is the Me dialer?
The Me dialer replaces your phone's dialer and adds identification to it. Type a number you have not saved and Me shows who is behind it before you call.
What it has:
- Reverse lookup, identifying an unknown number as you type
- Contact search, including T9 search by the letters on the keys
- Quick actions on every result
- Favorites, with a star next to each number
Its settings: Settings > Dialer Settings
What do I get from adding someone to favorites?
A favorite gets quick actions without you having to look for them: call, SMS, WhatsApp message and sharing their card.
Favorites also sit at the top of the dialer, so calling the people you speak to most is one tap.
I hit the daily search limit
There is a daily ceiling on searches, and it is there to stop the database being harvested automatically. The message you see is one of two:
- "You pass the limitation of phone search a day, for more information, you can contact us", for number searches
- "You exceeded business search limits. Please, try again later", for business searches
The ceiling resets on its own, and there is nothing to do but come back later. The rest of the app keeps working, including caller ID on incoming calls, which does not count against it.
I moved to a new phone, what happens to my data?
Install Me on the new phone and register with the same phone number. Your profile, your name list and your identified numbers are kept by us against that number, so they come back on their own.
What lives on the device and does not move by itself: the call log, notes, favorites, searches and the app's settings. Those travel through the backup:
Settings > Back-up and Restore
- On the old phone, tap "Backup Now"
- On the new phone, after registering, tap "Restore Now"
The backup sits in your own cloud, iCloud on iPhone or Google Drive on Android, and it is part of Me Pro.
One warning: do not delete your profile on the old phone. Deleting removes the account itself, not just the app from that device.
My contact names are duplicated, "John Doe Doe"
Settings > Synchronization > "Fix Duplicate Contacts Names". Note that it updates
your phone's own contact list, not just the app.
Contact photos are missing
Settings > Synchronization > "Fix Missing Pictures In Contacts", pulls each contact's
Me profile picture onto your device.
Is Me free?
Yes. Caller ID, spam blocking and Who Saved Me are completely free, and will stay that way. Me Pro is an optional subscription that removes ads and adds advanced features, and businesses get a free business profile with advanced tracks on top.
Which devices does Me work on?
Me is available for iPhone on the App Store, for Android on Google Play, and in your desktop or tablet browser with Me Web at web.me.app. There is also an app for Google's Wear OS watches, so caller ID reaches your wrist too.
How does Me know who is calling?
Identification is powered by the Me user community and by spam databases that update around the clock. Names appear the way other users chose to save them, and everyone gets full transparency and control over their own info, including removal. The full details are in our privacy policy.
How do I contact support?

Caller ID on Android
How do I report a number as spam?
Every report counts, and when enough people report the same number it is marked as spam for everyone. That is how the protection is built: from the community.
Where to report:
- From the caller ID window, in the actions menu
- From the number's profile, "Report as spam"
- "Report as spam and block", if you also want it to stop ringing you
A reported number's profile shows how many times it was reported, so you can see how wide the report is.
If a number was marked as spam by mistake, especially if it is yours, contact us and we will look into it.
How do I turn the call summary screen off?
The call summary screen closes on any tap outside it. To turn it off for good:
Settings > Call Summary
Each case has its own switch:
- "Enable Call Summary to unknown Calls"
- "Enable Call Summary to contacts Calls"
- "Enable call summary when calling from the app"
You can turn off only what bothers you, for example keep the summary for unknown numbers and turn it off for your contacts.
How do I make the caller ID smaller or less intrusive?
A few tips for a more comfortable caller ID:
- Swipe the caller ID window to the right and it closes immediately
- Drag the bubble down onto the X to close it
- You can drag the caller ID window up or down to whatever height suits you, and that height is kept for the next calls. The bubble can be moved anywhere on screen, and its position is saved too
- You can also switch the caller ID to a smaller, more compact display: Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > scroll to "Choose Pop up caller id type" > pick "Minimal Version"
- If you prefer the fuller experience, Android also has a full-screen caller ID: Caller ID for Android
How does the caller ID bubble work?
The bubble is the small form of the caller ID, and it stays on screen after you close the window:
- Tapping the bubble reopens the caller ID window
- You can drag it anywhere on screen, and the position is kept for the next calls
- Dragging it down onto the X closes it completely
If you would rather the caller ID close entirely instead of leaving a bubble:
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > "Choose what happens after closing Caller ID"
How do I switch to the full-screen caller ID?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > at the top, pick
"Pop-up Screen" or "Full Screen". Full Screen replaces your phone's own call screen, so Me has to be your default dialer,
Settings > Caller ID Troubleshooting > "Set Me
Dialer as Default".
Where do I change the caller ID settings?
Every caller ID setting is on one screen:
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings
There you choose the pop-up type, what happens after the window is closed, how you answer a call, which calls show caller ID, and whether profile photos appear.
You can also reach the same settings during a call, from the settings icon on the caller ID window. Drag the menu down to close it.
Can I turn the caller ID off just for people already saved in my contacts?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > scroll to "Caller ID Settings" > turn off "Contact calls" (or "Unknown calls"). Both are
on by default.
Me notifies me about every missed call, how do I turn that off?
It isn't on the Notifications screen.
Settings > Caller ID Settings > turn off
"Missed calls notifications".
Can I change the way I swipe to answer a call?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > "Choose How to Answer Calls", Drag to center, Drag vertically, Drag horizontally, Drag right/left.
Can I stop profile photos appearing on the caller ID?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > turn off "Show profile picture of the caller".
The app says the caller's name out loud, how do I stop it?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > turn off "Announce Callers".
The voice and language it uses are set under Settings > Language & Voice.
The flashlight blinks on incoming calls, how do I stop it?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > turn off "Flash on incoming call".
Caller ID is not working on Android, what should I check?
For the caller ID window to appear, every permission the app needs has to be on. Most cases are solved on a single screen:
Settings > Caller ID Troubleshooting
That screen lists everything caller ID needs, and a red dot marks any row that is off. Go through them and turn them all on:
- Set Me as a Default Caller ID App
- Phone Permission
- Read/write call log permission
- Ignore Battery Optimization, which stops the system from killing caller ID in the background
- Draw over Apps Permission
- Fullscreen Notification, required for caller ID on the lock screen and when answering calls
The screen adapts to your device, so it may show more rows. On Xiaomi phones, for example, it also shows Auto Start Manually, Exclude from Battery Saver and Add special permissions. Turn on everything it shows.
If caller ID works only for some calls, check which calls it is set to show:
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > under "SHOW CALLER ID" turn on "Unknown calls" and "Contact calls"
Caller ID is not showing on my OnePlus
On OnePlus, and also on Huawei, Honor, Oppo, Vivo and Meizu, the system closes background apps and stops caller ID, especially after the phone restarts. The app has a section for your device:
Settings > Caller ID Troubleshooting > scroll to "Troubleshooting Caller ID on your device"
- Turn on "Auto Start Manually", so caller ID keeps working after the phone restarts
Before that, make sure every other row on the same screen is on: Default Caller ID App, Phone Permission, call log permission, Ignore Battery Optimization, Draw over Apps and Fullscreen Notification. A red dot next to "Caller ID Troubleshooting" in Settings means something is still off.
I have a Xiaomi and the caller ID doesn't appear
On Xiaomi the system blocks background services by default.
Settings > Caller ID Troubleshooting > scroll to "Troubleshooting Caller ID on Xiaomi": Auto Start
Manually, Exclude from Battery Saver, Add special permissions.
Why doesn't Me identify numbers inside WhatsApp?
It's a separate permission.
Settings > Caller ID Settings > scroll to "Allow Me to Identify in other apps" and tap the "Please grant Me the permission to use this
feature" banner.
What is Driving Mode and why doesn't it start on its own?
Driving Mode is a Me Pro feature on Android.
Settings > "Driving Mode" > Automatic
Driving Mode / Manual Driving Mode, plus a quick-settings tile and Driving Mode Customization. If it never starts by itself, it is set to Manual.
When I close the caller ID a bubble stays behind. How do I make it disappear completely?
Settings > Caller ID Settings > Caller ID Display & Settings > "Choose what happens after closing Caller ID"
- "Close to bubble", quick actions stay in a floating bubble (this is the default)
- "Close completely", the caller ID is dismissed entirely, no bubble
How do I activate caller ID on Android?
Install Me from Google Play, verify your number and approve the permissions the app asks for. From that moment every incoming call is identified with a name and photo on screen. To make sure everything is active, tap the logo and choose Caller ID troubleshooting.
Caller ID on iPhone
Does Me work with Apple CarPlay?
Yes. On a CarPlay call, the name on the car's screen is Me's identification, and the same identification is kept in the iPhone's call log.
Identification in the car comes from the same extension that identifies on the phone, so it has to be on:
Settings > Apps > Phone > "Call Blocking & Identification" > turn on "Me Spam Detection" and "Local Numbers"
How do I block a specific sender or keyword in SMS?
In the app: Settings > Spam and Identified Numbers > "SMS Spam Protection" > "Filter by Sender" > Blocked Senders, or "Filter by Keyword" > Blocked Keywords.
How do I report spam from the iPhone call log?
Swipe the row in the call log and tap "Report".
For reporting to work, the reporting extension has to be on in the phone:
Settings > Apps > Phone > "SMS/Call Reporting" > choose Me
How do I turn on Live Caller ID on iPhone?
Caller ID on iPhone works through an Apple extension, so it is switched on in iPhone Settings. Five steps:
- Open Settings on your phone
- Tap Apps
- Open Phone
- Choose "Call Blocking & Identification"
- Turn on "Me Live Caller ID"
Before that, make sure Me has full access to your contacts:
Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts > Me > Full Access.
Without full access the switch will fail.

How do I activate caller ID on iPhone?
Caller ID on iPhone works through an iOS extension, and it has to be switched on once in the phone's settings:
Settings > Apps > Phone > "Call Blocking & Identification" > turn on "Me Spam Detection" and "Local Numbers"
Without it there is no real-time identification and no spam detection.
On iPhones running iOS 18 and later there is also Live Caller ID, which identifies numbers beyond the local list. You turn that on inside the app:
Settings > Spam and Identified Numbers.
How do I turn on spam and SMS blocking on iPhone?
On iPhone these are two separate extensions, one for calls and one for messages.
- For spam calls: Settings > Apps > Phone > "Call Blocking & Identification" > turn on "Me Spam Detection". You can turn on "Local Numbers" on the same screen
- For SMS filtering: Settings > Apps > Messages > Unknown & Spam filtering, and Me then appears as a filter. Filtered messages collect in the "Unknown & Spam" tab inside the Messages app
- Nothing is deleted, filtered messages move to that separate tab, which you can open at any time

On iPhone I don't have the caller ID settings that Android has, why?
Correct, and it isn't a gap in the app: on iPhone the call screen belongs to iOS and Apple lets no app draw over it. Me for iPhone instead offers,
under Settings > "Spam and Identified Numbers": Live Caller ID, Spam Calls Detection, Local Numbers Identification,
Siri shortcut identification, Search via Copy Number, and Identified Number Troubleshooting.
On iPhone a number is identified wrongly, or identification isn't updating
Settings > Spam and Identified Numbers > "Identified Number Troubleshooting" >
"Update Records", or "Reset Records" to re-download them from scratch. Give it a few minutes after a reset.
The app is taking up a lot of storage
Settings > "Memory Usage" splits the space into Application, Data and Cache, and
"Clean-up Storage" clears junk files and cache. Your data, notes and names are not touched.
Registration fails with a message about the date and time
The message is "We see that your device date and time are incorrect, please fix it on setting and try again".
This is not an app fault. A clock that is out of sync breaks registration, and purchase validation with the store too. The message itself carries a "Change it now!" button that goes straight to your phone's date and time settings.
Set the date, the time and the time zone back to automatic there, and try again.
Some of my contacts or recent calls don't show up in the app
Settings > "Synchronization" > "Resync Contacts" if contacts are missing,
"Resync Call Logs" if recent calls are missing or stale.
It says try again tomorrow and I cannot register
Two messages look alike and mean different things:
- "You try to get a code too many times, please try again tomorrow", you asked for the code too often
- "You entered a wrong code too many times. Please try again tomorrow", the code you typed was wrong too often
Either way the send buttons lock. The limit is kept on the phone number and not on the device, so reinstalling the app or clearing its data will not unlock it earlier. Come back the next day.
If it is urgent, "Need Support?" at the bottom of the screen emails us the error code and we can look into it.
It says I am using an unofficial version
The message is "We see that you are trying to use unofficial version, Please use official version and try to register again", and it appears when the app was installed from an APK file or from a store that is not the official one. Those builds do not pass registration.
The message carries a "Download from store!" button that opens the official store. Remove the copy you have, install from there, and register again.
It says my account is blocked and I cannot register
We understand this is a frustrating message, especially when it is not clear where it came from.
There are two block messages and they come from different reasons:
- "You deleted too many times and therefore your account is blocked". Every profile deletion and re-registration sends a new-name notification to everyone who saved you, so there is a ceiling on deletions. The app warns you before you reach it: "Attention! You have deleted the account more than the allowed number of times, if you delete the account again you will not be able to register for the application anymore."
- "Your account is blocked", a general block on the number.
Neither block can be lifted from inside the app, and there is no screen or setting that releases it. The way to have it checked is to contact us: "Need Support?" at the bottom of the registration screen sends an email with your number, your country and the error code.
It says my phone number is not supported
The message is "The phone number is not supported, please use a valid mobile number and try again", and its button says "Edit Phone Number", which takes you back to the number screen.
The reason is the type of number. Me registers a mobile number, so a landline, a VoIP number or a virtual number is refused. A country prefix that does not match the number itself gives the same message.
Check that the flag and the prefix at the top match the number, and that the number you typed is a mobile one.
The verification code never arrives
There is no need to start the registration over. The code screen has buttons that send the code another way, and they unlock as soon as the timer ends:
- "Continue with SMS"
- "Get Code via Phone Call", the system calls and reads the code out to you
- "Continue with WhatsApp" or "Continue with Telegram", where the app is installed on your phone
If you see "We see that SMS registration is not working, try another way", that is exactly what it means: the channel that failed is closed and the others are still open.
If nothing works, "Need Support?" at the bottom of the screen opens an email to support that already contains your number, your country and the error code, which is what we need in order to look into it.
I'm not getting notifications from Me, what should I check?
Check these in order:
- In the app: Settings > Notifications. Each type is its own switch, and the one you are missing may simply be off
- In the phone's settings: the notification permission has to be on for Me. On Android it is required from version 13 up
- On Android, also check Settings > Caller ID Troubleshooting > "Ignore Battery Optimization". A system that kills the app in the background also stops its notifications
- On Xiaomi and similar phones the same screen has "Auto Start Manually", which is needed for the app to keep working after a restart
Missed call alerts are their own setting:
Settings > Caller ID Settings > "Missed calls notifications".
I get an error turning on Live Caller ID on iPhone
To turn Live Caller ID on, the Me app needs access to all the contacts on the device. Limited access is not enough, and that is what the error is telling you.
- Open iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts > Me
- Choose Full Access
- Open Me again and turn Live Caller ID on

What is Live Caller ID on iPhone?
Live Caller ID is Apple's capability, on iOS 18.2 and later, that lets Me show a name for an unknown number before you answer, right on the call screen. The lookup uses an advanced privacy mechanism that encrypts the number on your device, so the server never sees which number was looked up. It is included in the Me Pro subscription.
Does Me filter iMessage?
No, and honestly: no app in the world can. iMessage is end-to-end encrypted, and Apple does not let any third party read or filter it, which is good news for your privacy. Me's filtering works on SMS and MMS messages only, and messages from your contacts are never filtered.
Can I identify a number with Siri or by tapping the back of my iPhone?
Yes, and it is called "Who's calling Me". Me installs a Siri Shortcut for number lookups, and you can trigger it three ways:
- By voice: "Hey Siri, who is this?"
- With a double tap on the back of your iPhone, once you set up Back Tap in the accessibility settings
- With the Action Button, on the models that have one
Setting it up is three stages: install the shortcut, assign it to Back Tap or to the Action Button, and the first time you trigger it choose "Always Allow" in the prompt that appears. The exact steps are below.
Note that this lookup works on demand, when you ask for it, and does not replace caller ID itself.
Me Web
How do I open Me on a computer?
Open web.me.app on a computer or a tablet, then in the app on your phone:
Settings > Me Web Access > "Link Device" > scan the QR code on the screen
A few things worth knowing:
- The code changes every minute. If it expires, refresh the page and scan again
- The "Me Web Access" screen in the app shows the linked device and its last synchronization
- On a phone the browser sends you back to the app, Me Web is built for a big screen

What is Me Web?
Me Web is Me for your desktop or tablet browser, at web.me.app. Search and identify phone numbers straight from your computer, without reaching for your phone, in a fast and comfortable interface.
Is Me Web included for free?
Full Me Web access is one of the Me Pro benefits, on both the personal and the business track. You sign in with your existing Me account by scanning a code, no passwords.
Why can't I open Me Web on my phone?
Me Web was built for the big screen and works in desktop and tablet browsers only. On your phone you already have the full solution, the Me app itself.
What can I do with Me Web?
Search and identify numbers straight from your computer, just like in the app. Especially handy at work, when an unknown number shows up in an email or a document and you want to know right away who is behind it.
Can I connect Me Web to more than one computer?
No. Me Web supports one connected computer at a time. Linking a new computer replaces the one that was linked before.
Where to see and log out the linked computer, in the app on your phone:

- The list shows the linked computer and when it was last active
- Tap the computer, then "Log Out", to disconnect it
- To move to another computer, link it with "Link Another Device" and it takes the place of the previous one
What is not allowed on Me Web?
Me Web is made for one person searching at a human pace. To keep your account active, please avoid a few things:
- Do not run scripts, bots or automation tools inside Me Web
- Do not try to perform actions Me Web does not offer
- Do not search sequential numbers, a run of consecutive numbers one after another
- Do not search at high speed, firing off search after search
Using Me Web this way can get the account blocked. With normal use, there is nothing to worry about.
Wear OS watch
What is Me for Wear OS watches?
The Me app for smartwatches running Google's Wear OS. The watch shows a name and photo for every incoming call, buzzes with a distinct vibration when it is spam, and lets you answer, decline or send a quick reply, without taking your phone out of your pocket.
Is the watch app available?
The Me app for Wear OS watches has been released and is available to download.
- Install it from the Play Store on the watch itself, or through the Me app on your phone
- The app also needs to be installed on your phone and paired with the watch

Which watches are supported?
Wear OS by Google watches.
- The watch needs to run Wear OS and be paired with an Android phone that has Me installed

Do I need the app on my phone too?
Yes. The watch works together with the Me app for Android: the phone identifies the call, the watch shows it on your wrist. Without the app on the phone there is no identification on the watch.
How much does Me for the watch cost?
Nothing. Me's caller ID is free, and so is the watch experience. As always, there is a Pro subscription for advanced capabilities on the phone.
Is Apple Watch supported?
At this stage the watch app is for Google's Wear OS watches only. On iPhone you can enjoy Me as a full app, including SMS filtering and Live Caller ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?
The subscription was bought through your phone's store, so it is cancelled there rather than in the Me app. It is quick, and you return to the free version when the period you already paid for ends.

The core is identical, and a few capabilities are platform-specific: on iPhone Pro includes Live Caller ID and works alongside Me's message filtering (SMS and MMS, not iMessage), and on Android the caller ID appears full screen with a floating bubble. Prices may also differ between the stores, the exact price is shown in the app.
If I don't upgrade, what happens to the free version?
Nothing, and it is not going anywhere. Caller ID, spam blocking and Who Saved Me are free and will stay free. Pro adds capabilities on top, it takes nothing away from free.
Is there a Pro for businesses?
Yes, a dedicated Pro subscription for the business account, on top of the free business profile: campaigns and a marketing banner inside the call screen, lead management, automatic messages, business rating, who searched and who deleted your business number and more. The price is shown in the app.
How does Pro backup work?
Pro backs up your call log, contacts, favorites, notes and app data to your own private cloud, iCloud on iPhone or Google Drive on Android, with up to 5 backups. Tap any backup to see its details and restore all of it or just part of it.

Try a different name, a kind of service, or a keyword. The app suggests exactly that: "Try a different name, service or keyword".

What is the biz.me.app business directory?

Create a free business profile on Me, and that's it. Your business automatically gets a page in the directory with the details you entered in the app, and the page is promoted in search engines too.
What does a business page in the directory show?
The business's full card: name, logo, field, opening hours, location, customer ratings and quick actions to get in touch, call or message.
Which languages is the directory available in?
The directory is built Hebrew-first, and is also available in English, Arabic, Russian and many more languages.
How much does it cost to appear in the directory?
Nothing. Appearing in the directory is included in Me's free business profile.
Privacy and Who Saved Me
How do I add or remove my birthdate from my profile?
Yes. "Profile" tab > "Edit" > tap the birthdate, and from there pick a new date or remove the one that is set.
Tap "Done" to save.
How do I add my social networks to my profile?
"Profile" tab > "Edit" > scroll to the social networks area
For each network, tap the plus, copy the link to your profile on that network and paste it in. The supported networks are Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Spotify.
If the link is not in the right format you get "The URL provided is not supported", and it is worth copying it again from that network's own app.
How do I stop sharing distance with someone?
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Manage shared distance"
Pick the person you want to remove from the list. The app says it plainly: "Distance sharing will be removed, you can always ask the user or share again".
So removing is not final, and you can share again whenever you want.
To switch the feature off completely, simply share with nobody, or take the location permission away from the app in your phone's settings.
How do I get the blue check on my profile?
The blue check on a profile means it is verified, and getting it takes two things:
- An email address on your profile
- At least two social networks connected
Both are in the same place:
the "Profile" tab > "Edit".
It is not the same as a business verified badge, which is a separate process for a business profile.
How do I change or remove my profile picture?
"Profile" tab > "Edit" > tap the profile picture > pick a photo from your gallery > "Done"
The first time, the app asks for gallery permission.
To remove it: the same route, and instead of picking a photo, choose to remove it.
Worth knowing: your profile picture appears on other people's caller ID and on your public profile.
How do I change my Me name?
"Profile" tab > "Edit" > tap your name
There are two ways to pick:
- Choose from your name list, meaning how other people already saved you
- Sync the name from Facebook
Pick one, save, and the name updates immediately.
How do I edit my Me profile?
"Profile" tab > "Edit"
The edit screen holds everything others see: your name, your profile picture, your birthdate, your email, your social networks and more. Change what you want and tap "Done".
What sits here is what other people see on the caller ID and on your public profile.
How do I see who named me a certain way?
Tap the name you are curious about in your name list, and it opens the list of the people who named you that way.
Tapping one of their profile pictures opens that person's full profile.
How do I hide my names list?
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Names list Privacy" > Show Names / Don't Show Names.
After a change the choice is locked for a period; the screen shows how many days are left. Everything on this screen is mutual: "If a feature is on, you'll see others and they'll see you. If it's off, it's hidden both ways."
Can I know who saved me in their contacts?
Yes, that is what Me is for. The "Names" tab holds the names you received, meaning how other people saved you in their own contacts.
You can also search the list for a particular person: if they appear, you are saved on their phone, and you can see under which name.
The list is built from Me users, so the more people around you use the app, the fuller it gets.
Can I search for a specific name in my name list?
Yes. On the "Names" tab, scroll the list a little and an inner search field appears. Type a name, or part of one, and the results show instantly.
Can I see who deleted me from their contacts?
Yes. It is one of the Me Pro features, listed on the subscription screen as "Who deleted your contact": "Discover who deleted your number from their contacts."
The setting itself has to be on first:
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Who deleted me"
That is the rule for this whole screen, in its own words: "Your privacy, your rules but it's mutual. If a feature is on, you'll see others and they'll see you. If it's off, it's hidden both ways."
With it off you still see how many people removed you, without names. The app puts it as "5 users removed you last week" and offers to turn the feature on (there it is called "Contact Alerts") "to reveal names instead of numbers".
You can also get a standing update:
Settings > Notifications > "Who deleted me", "Weekly update on who removed your contact".
The notification itself reads: "The user Dan deleted you from his/her contact list".
Can I see who saved my number on WhatsApp, and under what name?
No, and no app can. WhatsApp does not expose who has your number saved, and nothing can read that out of it.
What Me shows is something else, and it is what most people are actually looking for: how other people saved you in their phone's contacts. That comes from Me users, not from WhatsApp, and it is on the "Names" tab:

And what you see there is the name itself: every name someone gave you is in the list, next to how many people used it. Tapping a name opens the list of the people who chose it. A name you don't like can be deleted, and you can also ask a group to change one.
One more thing Me does do with WhatsApp: on Android it identifies callers and unknown numbers in WhatsApp calls too, once you grant a separate permission. The answer about identifying in other apps explains how.
Can I change a name someone saved me under?
You can ask. Swipe the name in your name list, choose "Change Name Request", type the name you want and send it.
The name changes only if the other side accepts the request. If they do not, it stays as it is on their phone.
Can everyone see my names list?
No. Your names list is private, only you can see it. That is the app's own wording on the screen: "Your name list is PRIVATE and you are the only one who can see it."
- What other people can see is the name you saved them under, and only if you can see theirs too
- Reciprocity is the rule on that screen: with Names List Privacy on, you see how others saved you and they see how you saved them
- Turn it off and you stop seeing how others saved you, and they stop seeing how you saved them, and receive no name updates from you
- The path: Settings > Privacy Settings > "Names List Privacy"
There is a name I don't like in the list, how do I remove it?
It helps to know that Me only reflects how other users saved you in their own contacts, and we have no way to change a name inside someone else's phone.
What you can do:
- Remove the name from your list: swipe the name and choose "Remove name". It disappears from your name list and is not shown again
- Ask for a different one: swipe the name and choose "Change Name Request", write the name you want and send it. If the other side accepts, the name updates on their phone and in your list
What do people see about me when they search my number?
When someone types your number and taps the profile picture, the full profile opens. This is what can appear on it:
- "Details": the number, and next to it age, date of birth or gender, but only if you filled them in on your profile. Anything you left empty simply does not appear, and you can edit or remove each of them
- "Given Name": the names other people gave you. A setting decides whether this is shown at all, and the answer about hiding your name list explains it
- "Mutual Contacts": only if both sides turned the feature on
- "Social Networks": only the ones you connected to your profile yourself
- "Share distance": only with the people you shared it with, and you can stop at any time
- "Comments": these appear on numbers that were reported as spam
What nobody sees about you, in any case: your full name list. Who called you what, and how many people used each name, is for your eyes only, even when the names are shown on your profile.
And if you want to know who searched for you:
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Who watches my profile".
It is off by default, so it has to be turned on, and it is mutual like the rest.
Anyone who does not want to appear on Me at all, without installing the app, can ask to be removed: Opt out
What are mutual contacts?
Mutual contacts are the people saved both on your phone and on the phone of whoever's profile you are looking at. It is a quick way to see how you know someone.
This one is mutual too: you see mutual contacts only if both sides turned the feature on.
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Mutual Contacts"
If a profile shows none, you can ask the other side to turn it on, and they get a notification about it.
What is distance sharing and who can see it?
Distance sharing shows a friend how far away you are, not where you are. No map, no address, an approximate distance only, and only between two people who both shared.
The setting is mutual: someone who does not share does not see either.
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Manage shared distance"
That screen shows who you shared your distance with, and who shared theirs with you.
To ask someone to share, open their profile and ask. They get a notification, and the distance appears only if they accept.
To work out the distance the app needs location permission. With it off, a message asks you to turn on location services in your phone's settings.
I deleted a name from the list, can I restore it?
Yes, a name you deleted can be restored:
Settings > Deleted Names
That screen lists every name you deleted, and you pick the one you want back.
Someone changed the name they saved me under. Will I get a notification even if they have not opened the app?
It depends on the phone of the person who changed how they saved you:
- If they use Android, the change reaches Me in the background, without them opening the app, and you get the notification.
- If they use an iPhone, the change reaches Me only after they open the Me app.
There is nothing you need to do on your side, and nothing to refresh. When you get the notification depends only on their phone, and on when the change reaches Me from it.
I got a new name in the app and today it is gone, why?
The name you saw has not disappeared from your phone. It stopped arriving from its source.
A name on Me comes from other people, so it depends on them. There are two reasons it can disappear:
- That person deleted the app. When an account is deleted, the names it contributed go with it.
- That person turned the names feature off in their privacy settings. That is their choice, and it applies straight away.
In both cases nothing is broken on your side and there is nothing to fix. The name comes back if that person returns to the app, or turns the feature on again.
The same explanation is true for "who viewed my profile": a view that disappeared from the list belongs to somebody who deleted the app, or who turned sharing off in their privacy settings.
My name list is empty, why?
Your name list is built from other Me users who saved you. If it is empty, it usually means few people around you are on the app yet.
The way to fill it is "Invite More Friends" on the "Names" tab. As soon as someone who already saved you joins, you get a notification with the new name.
If what you actually want is for the list to stay closed to others, that is a separate setting:
Settings > Privacy Settings > "Names list Privacy".
What is Who Saved Me?
The feature Me was born for: the list of names your contacts saved you under in their phones. Full transparency, you see exactly how you are saved by others, with full control over your own info.
Can I use Me without Who Saved Me?
Yes. At the end of signup you can choose not to activate the feature. Note that it is reciprocal: if you don't activate it, you won't see how others saved you, and they won't see yours.
I don't want to appear on Me, how do I remove my info?
Simple and open to everyone, including people who never signed up: fill in the removal form at me.app/opt-out and ask to delete or update your details. You can also contact support, and we will handle the request.
What does Me do with my information?
Your information serves one purpose: identifying calls and protecting you from spam. We believe in transparency and control, anyone can see how they appear, request an update or remove themselves entirely. The full picture is in our privacy policy at me.app/privacy-policy.
